Flu symptoms are more widespread than originally believed

According to the reports obtained from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 50 percent of states in the United States that are dealing with prevalent flu activity.

The widespread flu activity has increased during January. Upon the latest reports from the CDC, there were three deaths recorded that were in relation to the flu. All throughout the flu period that began October of last year, there have been thirteen reported deaths of children caused by the flu.

There are a lot of states that are now reporting high levels of flu activity. However, the states of Louisiana, Virginia, Alabama, North Carolina and Indiana are among the states that have the highest levels of flu activity.

The National Foundation for Infectious Disease has recently unveiled a public health education campaign to spread awareness about American’s individual responsibility for preventing the spread of flu during this flu season. The campaign helps remind people about practicing proper hygiene such as how to properly cover the face when coughing and sneezing.

In the latest national poll, referred to by the organization, nearly 50 percent of Americans are not aware that flu viruses have the ability to spread 5 – 6 feet from a cough and that as many as 60 percent of people continue living as normal even while experiencing flu-like symptoms without receiving any treatment.
